"God Told Me I Should Listen To You" W57

Image
Okay I'm just gonna start it out strong because it was a solid week. This was probably one of my favorite lessons I've ever been in. Do y'all remember Jerrie Moon that I talked about in my email 2x ago? She's the one that lived in apt 705 that we randomly knocked on. Anyways, we had an incredible lesson with her and taught her the restoration. She immediately started telling us that she feels like so much is missing from the Bible. We introduced the Book of Mormon, and she was so willing to listen. During our lesson she said, "Before you came, I prayed, and God told me I should listen because you two would answer my questions." Wow. I felt the spirit so strong. At the end she told us we answered all her questions, and she knew our message was true. She said I asked God if you were true messengers and he said yes and that's why you are here. She has been prepared and is so in tune with the spirit. We got in the elevator and felt so much joy. We are messenge...

Pretty solid week out in the city of Lexington, Kentucky. We found 3 families this week that was definitely the highlight! We got to catch fireflies and see the prettiest sunsets. My friend Kevin got to do Baptisms in the temple so enjoy the sweet picture below. He has come so far since I first met him! We got to do two trainings at zone conference and went to the famous Texas Buc-ee's before exchanges. We also got to go to an art festival here downtown and talk to everyone.  Let me tell you about our new friends ! Shanic and her daughter Claire. We knocked on their door last week had a lesson this week and they came to church last Sunday. They loved it too! Claire made so many friends in Nursery. Shanic said that everything really spoke to her. She gave me a big hug after I spoke in sacrament and told me I made her cry! She's kinda my Kentucky mom here. It's so fun to teach people that you are just besties with.  Cici + Alazaye and their kids! The elders met the sweetest s...

Apartment 705 W55

Here's all of my Kentucky things that happened to me this week: 34 bug bites in the span of 20 minutes, ate fried chicken 3 times in the span of 2 days, had 2 lessons while people were smoking, got called "baby" + "honey" 5000x, and had my ear talked off a couple times. I was definitely called to this mission for the people. They are my entertainment all day, every day. There's not a day when I'm not shocked by the way people live. They make me laugh.  Cool experiences this week!  I'm doing a 40 day fast where I've felt like I should act on every single prompting. We met a lot of people unexpectedly this week, the Lord was definitely putting us where we needed to be. Everyone kept saying we came at the right time.  •I got to use my sign language on exchanges when we went to a cute city called Danville. There was this deaf man and we got to sign with him!  •When I was on exchanges in our area, we went to an apartment complex with 12 levels. I look...

Kentucky Is Greener Than Utah W54

Image
Hello! It has been a rainy but beautiful week here in Kentucky. I need to talk about how beautiful Kentucky is more. It's so green. I went on my new favorite drive 2x this week! It's from Lexington to Richmond. I love that we aren't in a drought. One thing I don't miss about Utah.  Also, apparently I spelled snoop dogg wrong last week, my apologies. Thanks to Caitlin (Cat) for correcting me. We actually found new people this week so that was such a blessing. Jade + Joann! So, this is the part member family we were going to play volleyball with. We went on Tuesday, and it was great. During dinner, the mom started bearing testimony of the church, restoration, living prophets, and the Book of Mormon. It was powerful! The spirit filled the room and I know her daughter felt it. It felt like it was probably the first time the daughter had heard her mom bear testimony. So, pray for Jade's heart to be softened!  Lincoln! We met Lincoln at Texas Roadhouse celebrating my one ...

Giving Snoop Dawg A Book Of Mormon W53

This week was definitely a week. It's been a grind. We are still trying to find people to teach, and I don't think I've ever talked to so many people.  Although a lot fell through, we felt good because we worked hard. We gave a Book of Mormon to this funny man who looked like Snoop Dawg at a red light (look at picture below). Went to MLC on my companion's birthday! We found an unbaptized teenager and set something up with her this week!! Her name is Jade, and we have high hopes. We found new potentials. Went to Texas Roadhouse and met a man who we set up a lesson with! We are being very optimistic because obedience and hard work brings miracles.  We got to go to a French/Swahili church service! Part of our ward here is a French/Swahili branch. There were 75 people there! There are 5 missionaries in our district that got called French speaking here and now also have to learn Swahili. There are so many refugees here from the Republic of Congo and Tanzania. It was so fun t...
