Watermelon? W44

I forgot to tell y'all last week I got asked 3 times if I was a nun..... Also, I forgot to tell you that at a baptism last week we were in charge of serving the cookies and of course I thought it'd be easy. Next thing you know I'm grabbing the cookies and they fall all over the floor. Not my best moment.  My fav people Ken and Linda went to the temple on Wednesday! I wasn't able to go because I live too far now so I had a little FOMO but, I'm so proud of them and I'm so grateful I have been a part of their journey.  We have a new friend named Ciera! I'm stoked about her. One of our favorite members referred her to us. Ciera said she was interested in learning when she saw her friend's (Sis Meloni) reaction when her husband died. She said she had never seen someone so at peace with such a tragic thing happening. SO COOL! The gospel offers that peace and comfort. I just love how Ciera was able to recognize that. She also wants a church for her daughter Bri...

Hoarding: Buried Alive W43

Sooo much happened this week! Very eventful week. The first two days were long meetings because we had a mission tour. Elder Stanfill came to our mission. We had a MLC with him on Tuesday and Zone conference on Wednesday. Him and his wife were incredible and taught me so much, they also remembered everyone's names, it was a skill I want to have.  Okay COOLEST miracle happened this week. On Thursday we got a text from this lady named Alisha she said, "Hi, this is Alisha. I just wanted to say I really wanna get back in church and to be able to do study groups, I think I fell off my path." Which was the best text a missionary could receive. She had practically been taught everything and we set up a lesson for Friday. Well, the lesson went so well, and we set a date with her to be baptized! She said she feels really good about it and is ready to turn her life around! She came to church on Sunday and loved it!  I found this guy named Joe on Facebook! He used to meet with missi...

A Week Of Languages W42

Image
This week was another solid week!!   A lot of our friends at church again:) I spoke in sacrament about the difference between sin and weakness. It was cool to see a Spanish, Karen, and sign language translator! There was a deaf visitor, and I was able to use my 2 years of high school sign language to ask her name. Haha but I actually understood a lot of what she was saying when she told me her whole life story. I felt a little accomplished because I still don't understand Karen at all.  We have used so much family history this week. People reject us and then we tell them we can help them find their ancestors and they let us right in. We have been able to find whole family trees for people and we can see it softening their hearts. Spirit of Elijah is real. Thanks, mom, for always doing family history! We started a zone camping day. We decided everyone in our zone has to be out of the apartment from 9am-9pm. We did studies outside and sent in vlogs into the zone chat. ...

Thursday Night In Kentucky W41

Image
Okay I love being a missionary but this week I LOVED being a missionary!   Picture this, it's a Thursday night in Owensboro Kentucky. What am I doing? Well, I'm at a 17-year old's birthday party. Everyone is speaking Karen I have no idea what's going on. Somebody says a 15 min long prayer and then we start eating noodles. I got a traditional Karen dress this week. So, I guess I'm official!! I love being a missionary you get to have so many moments where you just sit there and think, "what is going on?!?" We met the most incredible lady named Tamara. She is so prepared and has the biggest heart. Here's a reason why I'm out here: I felt prompted to let her know God loved her because you could tell she wasn't sure if she was doing enough. I got to look her in the eyes and tell her with complete confidence that God loved her so much and was aware of where she was at that exact moment. She teared up a little. It felt like for a second I could see he...

Okay I don't even know where to begin with this email. Let's just say I am having the time of my life. I don't think life could be better. I'm on a mission, my best friend is my companion, I'm in the cutest town on the Ohio river called Owensboro, we got two bathrooms, we have a Texas Roadhouse and Canes in our area, we are teaching lots of people and I'm learning an insane language and laughing the whole time. We both think something bad is going to happen because things are just so good right now. My new comp (Sister Ebert) and I celebrated our 9 months together and we got to go to the temple for a session. It was our 3rd time going together on our missions! So, to go into a little more detail. I am serving a bunch of people here from Burma. They are all refugees and stayed in Thailand camps before they came here to America. They all speak Karen, but a lot of the kids speak English:) So my mission president told me I had to learn Karen. The sweetest lady named...
