Okay I don't even know where to begin with this email. Let's just say I am having the time of my life. I don't think life could be better. I'm on a mission, my best friend is my companion, I'm in the cutest town on the Ohio river called Owensboro, we got two bathrooms, we have a Texas Roadhouse and Canes in our area, we are teaching lots of people and I'm learning an insane language and laughing the whole time. We both think something bad is going to happen because things are just so good right now. My new comp (Sister Ebert) and I celebrated our 9 months together and we got to go to the temple for a session. It was our 3rd time going together on our missions!
So, to go into a little more detail. I am serving a bunch of people here from Burma. They are all refugees and stayed in Thailand camps before they came here to America. They all speak Karen, but a lot of the kids speak English:) So my mission president told me I had to learn Karen. The sweetest lady named Dah Ree named me ဖီမူၢ်နၤ which sounds like Paw-moo-nah which basically translates to flower that grows in the moonlight. We also found a lot of new people to teach, one was named Eh Shee. She let us right in and we introduced the Book of Mormon to her. Within seconds her mom gave us bottled waters and a huge plate of Watermelon to welcome us. The culture here is so inviting!!! We also found a family! As soon as we came in, they started making spicy noodles for us! We also got fed by a recent convert. He fed us noodles and we got to eat with our hands! So enjoy the photos below!
Owensboro has been neglected English missionary wise so there is soooo much potential. I'm really excited to work hard!! We are also the STLs over our zone and the only sisters in our zone are Marshallese and Spanish speaking. Who would've thought in Kentucky and Indiana?!? I'm grateful because I get to experience so much! I'm really sad to leave my mission president and his wife though! I have lived 10 min away from them my whole mission and now I'm as far as you can get. But overall I'm so excited to be here and I can't wait to see what happens!
