Thriving With A -6° Christmas W74

Image
Our Christmas week was going well until.... it was -6° when we woke up Friday morning. But it said it felt like -28°. Last year on Christmas it was 70°. We had to stay in all day until we got permission to go to Sifa's house. Which was the highlight of my mission. We played games with the kids, ate dinner, and opened presents. Sifa got us the nicest gifts!! I'm so blessed to know this family! Look for the pics below they are adorable.  Ethan passed the sacrament on Sunday and brought his sister! It was her first time and Ethan said, "hey sisters, guess what! She hasn't been baptized yet!" We are going to the temple with him on Thursday for his first time! This Christmas has got to be one of my favorites, if not my favorite. I'll tell you why! Because Jesus Christ has been on my mind every single day. I've taught about Him, testified of Him, tried to be like Him, and deepened my relationship with Him during this Christmas season. It truly has been a spiritu...

Sifa, Gloria, + Adidjah Baptism! W73

Image
Definitely one of the best weeks!! I feel like I say that every week, but this one was special!  Sifa, Gloria, and Adidjah got baptized on Saturday! Highlight of my mission and my life! Everything went so smoothly and basically the whole ward showed up! I could not have felt more joy watching them make a covenant with God. There were so many people in white between Sifa's whole family and the people baptizing! I had so many moments where I felt so close to the Savior. Afterwards I hugged Sifa and she said, "We did it! I hope my daughters are just like you. Your mom must be proud." My love for this family is so strong. I wish y'all could've been there, it was day of true, pure joy.  Some Christmas things we did this week: Christmas Zone conference!!! We did skits, white elephant, and watched the Christ Child. It was so fun to be around other missionaries and hear their testimony of the Savior. Our district performed "Mary Did you Know?" We went to a Young...

Lifting Their Hands On Sunday W72

Image
Hello friends that are still reading my weekly emails after 72 weeks. Y'all are the real ones! I got some good stories for you!  Ethan got his temple recommend and he's passing the sacrament next week!! It was so cute to see him stand up and everyone raise their hand. We texted his dad and asked how his interview went and he said, "Great, they are lifting the hand on Sunday, but just the right hand!" Love that family! Kelsey! Back in August me and Sister Morse mass texted all the inactive members an invite to a relief society activity. We thought nothing had come from it. Until this week! We got a voicemail from Kelsey. She said, "Hey Sisters I know I told everyone I left the church but back in August, you sent me an invitation to the relief society activity. I told you I left the church, and you told me to reach out whenever. Well, this is me taking up your offer." We met with her the next day, and she is so cool! She was baptized in 2019 but left the churc...

Joyful Burden Of Discipleship W71

Solid week!  Had the best lesson with Ethan! We talked about the Priesthood and Temples, and he has such a fire. He's getting the priesthood soon and his recommend! Can't wait to go with him. After our lesson, he pulled us aside and said, "hey sisters, do y'all wanna go to Cheesecake Factory with us?" So we got to spend our night with his family at Cheesecake Factory. It was definitely a highlight and Ethan has been a dream to teach.  We had exchanges with Berea and I got to be with a brand-new sister named Sister Stewart! We spent most of our time in Downtown Lexington and we taught our friend Jerrie Moon! She accepted the Word of Wisdom. Me and Sister Steward were able to really open up to each other and it was exactly what I needed! I feel like the past 2 weeks have been a 24/7 comp study with whoever I'm with! I'm learning so much!!! We got to attend Stake Conference and the stake president got released so now after 9 years they have a new one. It was ...
