Knit A Sweater W/Cat Hair + Dust W78
Hi friends!
I'm still out in Kentucky having the time of my life! My week was awesome like usual! Went by way too fast. S/o Kinsee and Caleb for getting engaged. Love them!
I got to get frozen yogurt with a couple I used to teach a year ago, Alicen and Daniel! They came out to meet me and we just had so much fun catching up. I'm glad our friendship has lasted! She said I look completely different now and I don't look like a baby! Haha! I also finally got to see Sydney Shumway, my favorite person to ever live in Louisville. She's the service missionary I met 6 years ago in PG, and we reconnected a year ago in Kentucky!
When knocking doors, I felt impressed to talk to this man. He immediately signed that he was deaf. So, I signed back and told him I know sign language. He was shocked!! So, we had about a 10-15 minute convo and I learned all about him. He said he's Baptist and not interested:( I even typed it out on my phone to make sure and he didn't want to give me his number. But it's okay! Because it was a cool experience!! Mr. Lee would've been so proud of me!
Sifa and Gloria went to the temple to do Baptisms on Thursday! I wasn't able to get permission to go but they said they had a great time. I'm so proud of this family and how well they are progressing!
We had 2 exchanges this week! The first one was a miracle. Me and Hermana Hibbard have been pen pals for 9 months but we've never served around each other. We wanted to so bad and now we are in the same zone, and I got to go on exchanges and spend a whole 24 hours with her. It was so nice to just sit and talk rather than write letters. I learned a lot from her, she's one of my closest friends on the mission! Second, I went with Sister Myler! She's one of my new mission friends. She's only been out for a couple months but she's got it down! She just has this contagious fire! She wants to be the best missionary she can be and kept asking for my advice! We had so much fun, and a random less active member gave us a tour of his boujee house and fed us a whole meal! We laughed lots and saw miracles! The sisters are definitely the reason I'm in Louisville.
We did some service and cleaned out a room that hadn't been vacuumed in probably 15 years. I think I inhaled my body weight in Cat hair and dust. We could've also knitted a whole sweater. I was suffering the rest of the week. It's okay, anything for Terry! Kentucky is not the place to be if you are allergic to cats.
We had some solid member meals and lessons! This family fed us ribs, fried chicken, rotisserie chicken! While I was eating the ribs the dad said, "ya like bbq sauce?" I said, "can you tell?" I probably had it all over my face. He then went to the fridge and brought out the best bbq sauce I've ever had. It's apparently not available to buy right now but it won a contest in Texas!
Anyways, enough random stuff! Let me share a spiritual thought because I'm a missionary!
“When we are unduly impatient with an omniscient God’s timing, we really are suggesting that we know what is best. Strange, isn’t it—we who wear wristwatches seek to counsel Him who oversees cosmic clocks and calendars. “Because God wants us to come home after having become more like Him and His Son, part of this developmental process, of necessity, consists of showing unto us our weaknesses. Hence, if we have ultimate hope we will be submissive because, with His help, those weaknesses can even become strengths." Elder Maxwell
Will you let your weaknesses bring you closer to the Savior or will you allow them to bring you away? It's a choice! During those refining times, I've noticed that some people use it as an opportunity to deepen their conversion and others use it as an opportunity to fall away and blame God.
Ether 12:41
Seek this Jesus!
