Half-way House Party W51
This was definitely the most eventful week of my mission. So, buckle up.
Okay it's a Wednesday night. Where are we? At a halfway house in Rockport, Indiana playing darts and eating peanut butter fudge with 5 recovering drug addicts on house arrest with big ankle bracelets. Naturally.
Okay a little background now. Terra, who's the most incredible returning member after 30 years got us 4 referrals this week. She took us out to a halfway house, and we taught her friend Johnathan the Restoration and set up returning appointments with 3 other people. They are now my best friends. We are going back on Wednesday because they want to have a BBQ and then be taught the plan of salvation. They just kept telling us we carried the brightest spirit with us, and they all needed that. Don't worry I was safe; I had my pepper spray.
Susset got baptized! We got to be witnesses!!! Her family just showed up to church about a month ago and the Spanish elders have been working with her and she just got baptized. It's been so fun to see her each week. Her and her two sisters run up to me every Sunday and give me a hug, it's always the highlight of my week.
Jack! We should've given up on Jack a long time ago but something in us never did. We finally taught him the Restoration after him being referred to us back in March. He took it so well and said how before he picked up the phone there was so much going on and he was stressed but as soon as he picked up the phone, he felt complete peace and a clear mind when he read Moroni 10:4-5. We told him to journal his feelings as soon as he hung up with us. Also, everything lined up with him because apparently a member who is his boss reached out to him and taught him about the church and he also went out to SUU (the school I use to go to) and took a tour with his daughter! So, he has so many good connecting points with the church.
Ciera! Is still progressing and getting baptized on Thursday, she passed her interview! We introduced family history with her, and I'll never forget it. She was in heaven. She thought us being 11th cousins was the coolest thing ever.
I found out on Saturday that I'm being transferred. Probably the saddest transfer news I've ever got. I'm not gonna lie my President really likes to test my faith all the time. I got here and we had 0 people on date, and nobody was progressing. Now we have 7 people on date. 3 of our friends this week decided to get baptized! And sooo many progressing friends. I was kind of upset with the Lord because I came into this area, and we worked so hard and now I'm leaving when they are all getting baptized and going to the temple. But it's okay because it's the Lord's plan, not Sister Robbins' plan. I just have to be honest with y'all. So, I'm headed to Lexington which is an even more populated city and I'm ready to work hard again even if I don't entirely see the fruits of my labors. But I shouldn't complain because my President is letting me stay for Ciera's baptism on Thursday, so I'll give him that one.
Overall this week I found myself talking to a tree and told it I was a missionary (really creepy/funny experience), having 5 kids surrounding me telling me while running in a circle that I was going to have a hot husband, taught 15 solid lessons, said bye to a lot of my best friends, ate FuFu again (sooo bad but can't say no), had a sleepover with the Marshallese sisters, ate Himalayan food, taught the Swahili kids the plan of salvation and spent p-day with my fav members shopping.
I talked in church, taught Sunday School, and prayed during our Karen Sacrament. So, if you want to watch the video of my talk on the Facebook live, let me know! I LOVE EACH OF YOU!!
