Open Mic Church W37
Ethan, our recent convert got the priesthood!! Ethan is 20 years old and got baptized a few weeks ago
and is hilarious. He is always cracking jokes and very loud during church. Right before fast and testimony meeting, he looked at me and said, “Wait! Is it an open mic church today?!?” I said, “Yes, are you gonna go up?” He said, “Duh” and he was the first
to bear his testimony. I love working with recent converts that just have a fire in them. After he got the priesthood he said, “Well, do I have it now?”
We had a one-on-one call with Tom Larsen which I’m sure none of you know who he is. Basically, he is a big dawg in the social media part of missionary work. He oversees it all!! I just clicked on his zoom link because I thought a combined class was happening. Nope. Just us. He said the class was canceled but he said if we wanted to stay, he could answer any questions we had. 45 minutes later we left with so many ideas and a whole new perspective. Might be my new claim to fame. Also, we found some new people on Instagram this week! It's such a good tool!
Our friend that we have been working with to quit smoking came to ARP. She absolutely loved it and we had a lesson right before as well. She has been reaching out to us to set up lessons which is a huge step for her! During the sharing portion she was saying how excited she was for ARP and how happy she was to be there. It made my heart so full.
Other than that, this week consisted of lots of service, lessons, exchanges, Kentucky Derby party, sports night, technology meetings and good times. Check out Helaman 12:1-6 it really helped me understand why we have trials and how important they are. Also read the talk "Do we trust him? Hard is good." by Elder Stanley G. Ellis, it is my favorite talk.
