Boonies Of Kentucky W23

This week was an interesting one. Both me and my companion kind of felt like we were floating through the week. We think the winter blues might be getting to us. But lots of great things happened this week:)

We had exchanges this week and holy cow it was a blast. I got to go to this area in the boonies. I really felt like I was in Kentucky. Most the houses were trailers and when we went inside, I felt like I was on the hoarders buried alive TV show.

We had a lesson with a recent convert named Barb on exchanges. This lesson was definitely for me, and she taught me so much. Barb has been through just about every bad thing you can think of. It was my first time meeting her, but she told me everything in great detail. We cried for a good chunk of it. Yet she told me something pretty profound she said, "I don't have to be sad about all the bad things that have happened to me in the past I can focus on my life changing right now and that brings me joy" her life has completely changed, and she said she owes it all to converting to the LDS church. I walked away with a new perspective. First, I had no room to complain about anything and second, you can't put a limit on Jesus Christ's Doctrine and your progression.

One day when we were at a Kroger, I met this guy named Michael and he gave us his number. We had a Bible study over the phone with him this week. He asked us, "if there really is a God why does he take people we love away from us?" I was able to bear my testimony of the plan of salvation and encouraged him to pray and ask that question to God as well as ask for peace. He said he would love to know more and will take up our challenge. He doesn't live in our area, so I had to give him to the elders:/

On Sunday we had a meeting with our president about social media, then his wife came to a lesson with us. It was with Ken & Linda and we read Alma 34. It was spiritual and powerful. Christ can deliver us in ways we can never imagine. Then we headed to a member meal with the Bednars and they told us that Elder Bednar had spent Christmas with them and just left a few days earlier. You could feel the spirit so strong in their home. I don't think that family has ever frowned a day in their life.

During interviews me and my mission president talked about the Doctrine of Christ. These past couple weeks I have really made an effort to study the Doctrine of Christ and take it from my mind to my heart and my motivation to share it has increased! My president asked me to share my testimony of Jesus Christ in front of the whole mission on the DFTC training calls, so wish me luck hahah!

Pray for me and hna Massey we have had some embarrassing things happen this week. Right at 6:30am when we woke up, she went to turn off the alarm and her whole bed fell on top of her. We have three mattresses stacked on top of each other, so it was kind of a far fall. I told her to stay down while I took a pic but the camera was the wrong way, so enjoy a pic of me as well crisp at 6:30am. We also sent thumbs up on accident into the mission chat which is a NO GO. Anyways Happy New Year!
