Tornados! W20
•Well, this may have been the best week! We got transfer news and I'm staying in Crestwood as a DFTC, STL and will now be in my first duo out in the field! We had Christmas zone conference this week, got fed lunch & dinner most days, set Ewanda on baptismal date, and I received the most genuine compliment ever and I also received a nice pair of earrings!
•The highlight of my week was exchanges; we were volunteering at an event called festival of nativities. Basically, everyone of all faiths comes to the church and puts out their nativities. There were 500 nativities. So many of our friends came and loved it! When it was over, we helped this lady who's not a member named Miss Davis clean up some of her nativities. Out of nowhere she just invited us to a fancy steak house. We agreed and next thing you know we were eating $25 steaks with three 70 year olds. We all held hands and said grace and we just laughed our heads off while playing two truths and one lie ahahh. I will never forget that night.
•This week our senior couple missionaries also took us out for $30 sushi. So, we must be doing something right! We also invited a guy named Michael who we met on the streets to come to the festival of nativities, and he came! He said he hasn't been in a church building in forever and felt so close to God. He said if it wasn't for our invite, he wouldn't have had that feeling.
•Elwanda on baptismal date!! This area hasn't had anyone on baptismal date in forever, so this lesson was a BLESSING. She's told us before that she has already been baptized so we decided to teach her the restoration and really focus on priesthood power. We showed her a picture of President Nelson and she immediately said, "he's a man of God I know it." Then she told us how she has been praying to find the true Church and she can just feel of the truthfulness of the restored gospel. It was POWERFUL. So of course, me and my comp were on the same page and we both looked at each other, then invited her to be baptized. She said YES and was telling everyone the good news! Her granddaughter told us she wants to be a missionary like us someday:')
•Elwanda gave me the best compliment this week. She looked at me and told me how her and her grandkids were talking about how beautiful I was and told me I have such a bright glow about me. It's like I have a halo around me at all times. They can even see it on my Facebook profile. It was so genuine, and I may have teared up a little.
•We had our last lesson with Nathaniel, they are all headed off to college. It has been amazing to see him progress. He's been THROUGH it all. He said that literally a few months ago he was sleeping on a park bench. Apparently, he's been bragging to everyone that he has the BEST missionaries:)) It's been fun to have three guy besties out here.
•Also, there was a bad Tornado that hit Mayfield and Bowling Green Kentucky! I'm all right though, there has just been some crazy lighting and thunder and a scary night! A lot of people have family members out there so keep them all in your prayers.
