Sister La Chohn's Disease W14
Well, this week we caught 3 mice, went to Tyler's baptism, carved pumpkins then later a squirrel ate mine, got nicknamed Sister Beans, and I met my first atheist in Kentucky.
Highlights of my week: There are a lot of awkward elders in my mission, so I asked my district leader if I could give a training about how to be normal and natural. He said yes. Some other elders have asked me to teach them how not to be awkward. I'm glad I'm making an impact in that way. We have a member named Sister Lecron but I can't pronounce it, so I say Sister La Chohn's disease. Also, my fav guy Kevin who's on date has been preaching it up and giving us referrals, he's just the best. Lastly, my president was wearing his wife's tag and didn't notice until we pointed it out, he's the best.
This week we had an amazing lesson with Michael!! I don't know if I've ever said anything about him in my emails. He's in a wheelchair and he's a very quiet guy. We felt impressed to ask him to be baptized during his lesson. Towards the end of the lesson, I got nervous and asked him to be baptized. Although it wasn't the boldest invitation, he didn't even hesitate he just said yes. He told us that with his physical capabilities he didn't think it would be possible, but he would still like to be. To make up for my weak invitation, I boldly promised him that if he remained faithful that God would provide him a way to be baptized no matter his circumstances. He started tearing up and so did I. It was incredible!
Remember how I said in my next email I would talk about all our new people? Well, here it is! We found quite a bit of new people this week!! We went to U of L campus and met with 3 new girls from Bible study. We went to Starbucks with them, and they asked all about missionary work and asked us to bear our testimonies it was awesome and, on our way, back to our car I said hi to a woman at the bus stop, but we kept walking. A few minutes later my comp said we should turn around. So, we did and gave her a picture of Jesus. She told us her husband died a month ago. I read her Mosiah 24:14! She started crying and gave us hugs and her number. What the?!? When in the world would I ever be able to experience that? Although It's not fun to put yourself in uncomfortable positions and talking to random people, that's when the most miracles come.
Don't forget to abandon sin and get comfortable with God. Rather than abandon God and get comfortable with sin. We know that no unclean thing can dwell with God, but no unchanged thing will want to!
