Are You Amish? W13

Hello party people!! The leaves are changing, and Halloween is coming!! I hit my 3 months and it has been the fastest/slowest 3 months of my life. Time is wack out here.

While we were driving home from an appointment on Wednesday we drove past this lady and this man looked like he was interrogating her a little bit. Once I looked a little closer, I realized I knew the lady! I had met her at the food pantry about a month ago, her name is Chrissy. I told my companions, but they kept driving. I said hold on, I think we actually need to turn around. We got out of the car and talked with her. She was surprised we recognized her and opened up to us about some hard things going on. We held hands and prayed, and she gave us hugs. We gave her a Book of Mormon and our number, and we were able to visit her again this week. So grateful that the Lord put both of us in that position.

We had to drop quite a bit of people this week:/ My favorite girl Diane moved but we referred her to some missionaries in Florida. They have already been in contact with her and it's actually my good friend Luke Bishop's previous companion. Some of our other people seem to be ghosting us. If only they had an eternal perspective for just one second! It's okay, we just need to increase our faith to find people who are ready. Catch me next week talking about all our new people! We have just been doing a lot of member work this week which has been so fun. I finally feel like I know most of the members!

While working with members this week we got invited to come over to lunch with a member we had never met. During our lesson with her she felt impressed to tell us a question that she has been having. She was nervous to tell us because she didn't think we would believe her. She told us about a spirit in her home and we said, no way we have one too! We were able to sympathize and had the elders come over to give a blessing. She said it was an answer to her prayers! We also invited lots of less active families to the Halloween party and a bunch of them showed up:) We had two awesome lessons with some of our new converts and they took up our challenge to get a temple recommend and have an interview from the bishop! So hopefully we can set up a time soon because nothing is better than the feeling inside the temple.

The highlight of my week was carving pumpkins with the French Elders and our special needs friends. I think I met my new best friend, Heidi. She had me laughing my head off. She told me all sorts of stories. I love connecting with people and missions definitely give you lots of opportunities to do that.

The lowest point of my mission I hit on Thursday. A lady looked me up and down and then said, "Are you Amish?" and laughed a little. I laughed too and said no ma'am, I love my car too much. I didn't even have on a long dress or anything!! I did explain to her who I was and why I was there so don't worry.
