Bible Belt For Sure W7
Hello friends!!! This week was awesome as always! This week we had zone conference, lots of miracles, and laughed our heads off. I'm pretty sure my companions are some of the funniest people and we definitely deserve our own reality TV show. I also hit my one month in the field!!
I didn't realize how real Bible bashers are and how many of them just happen to live in Kentucky!! Serving in the YSA we get so many!! A lot of them are Baptist and interpret the Bible completely opposite than we do. Bashing is not cool, but it feels good when you get to bear your testimony and they can't argue against that. We are teaching this man who knows everything about the Catholic Church. During my personal study I just "happened" to find this talk called, "Why 1820" if you haven't read it read it!! Then during our lesson, he started bringing up all this stuff about the apostasy. Every single question he asked was answered from that talk!!! I'm so grateful for spirit lead personal studies. I'm learning so much about the Bible and other religions out here and it is strengthening my testimony so much!! I have never once felt discouraged while teaching bashers. It actually makes me grateful for my unwavering testimony of the truthfulness of the restored gospel.
One of the highlights of my week was absolutely renovating and organizing a sketch gas station. We met this man named Bob at this gas station and we've been teaching him, but the gas station is a dump. So, we asked him if we could help out, he was hesitant but said yes. We came back a week later and he was so surprised and said, "do you really want to clean?" In his cute Indian accent. If you know me, you know I love organizing so we went to town and that place looks sooo much better and it meant so much to him. He also told us to leave out a few M&Ms on the floor for the mouse. He's so funny.
We had some lessons fall through this week but, it led us to new people. We felt the spirit to visit these two houses. Both of these people were going through such a hard time and needed us. I was able to pray with one of the ladies and it was the most powerful thing the spirit totally talked through me I don't even know what I was saying but she gave me the biggest hug after. I love being a missionary it's so special. I started talking to this man at the park and he agreed to have a lesson with us, but he had to grab his cigarettes first. We sat down and talked to him and the whole time he had his cigarette in his mouth, and he told us about all the drugs he has ever done, but he told us he wanted to come to church ahha.
This week so many of my questions have been answered and I'm so grateful. God is working on me fast! This week I studied a lot about being "saved" and the importance of organized religion. Salvation can only come through Jesus Christ's church. A lot of people here believe they have been "saved" because they verbally accepted Jesus Christ or went to a church camp where they were "saved." Through Jesus Christ we are saved "from" our sins not "in" our sins. We have to continually keep trying and changing through the atonement! Jesus Christ organized a church while he was on earth for the "perfecting of the saints". We need that proper power and authority to keep progressing and make covenants. (Mosiah 18:17) I love personal study!!! Ezekiel 18:23
