CHARACTER OF CHRIST W1

Hey guys I am writing this email in the laundry room of the Provo MTC! I got here yesterday, and this is a pretty amazing place. I finally got to see my district and companion yesterday. As soon as I saw my companion Sister Ebert, we gave each other the longest, biggest, best hug ever and she bought me the sweetest gifts. We have already decorated our rooms even though we will only be here for 12 days, and I think everyone thinks we are a little insane because we are already best friends and practically the same person. I'll keep you updated next week if we are sick of each other, but I doubt it. I had some pretty tough goodbyes this week, but I am meeting some incredible people here at the MTC. I've already seen so many people I know here. It's been so fun to reconnect with old friends. Kinda feels like I'm at rehab or girls camp Haha.

Yesterday we had a devotional from our MTC president called The Character of Christ. Let me say my mindset about my mission has changed. I hope I can stay on this spiritual high my whole mission because I have never been happier or more content in my whole life. Funny how once you make Christ the center of your life you are so much happier, and everything seems to fall into place. Basically, we watched Elder Bednar talk about the character of Christ. He talked about how Christ is always turning outward, and the natural man is always turning inward. For a while when I would talk about my mission, I would say things like, "I just don't wanna get yelled at" "I just want success and to baptize so many people" "I'm worried about rejection" or "I will just miss my family so much." Notice how many times I said "I"? This is not MY mission, this is CHRIST's mission! This is not about me, it's about the people I teach. Christ turns out in love, compassion, and service. The natural man turns in and is selfish, self-centered and self-absorbed. The natural man is an enemy to God so shouldn't he be an enemy to us? The most selfless people I know are the happiest and the most selfish people I know are the most miserable. I think the most beneficial thing for my mission will be a constant effort to have the character of Christ.

Love you all!
