Beautiful Kentucky Interesting People W4
Hello party people! It's Sister Robbins!!! This week has been full of amazing things and interesting places for lessons! We got to do a lot of work at the University of Louisville campus. We did a booth every day this week for institute and met some awesome people. It was definitely out of my comfort zone to be in front of kids my age talking about the restored gospel so openly. We got lots of judgmental looks and got asked if we were in a cult or polygamists haha! We actually had a full restoration lesson with the president of a frat. It made me miss college but working with kids my age makes me happy! We also had a full restoration lesson with a gas station worker named Bob who just moved here from India. It was in the gas station while he was working. We then had a restoration lesson in a kids play place and set our friend Barbara on a baptismal date!!
Some fun things that happened this week, one lady that we are teaching who just got baptized said "hey y'all I have one more question. I like wolves is that a sin?" I had to bite my tongue before I laughed. We quickly reassured her that liking one of God's creations was not a sin as long as she didn't put it before God. Man, Kentucky has some interesting people, but I've never had more love in my heart. Another lady we are teaching named Patience made us authentic African food, she's from Liberia. It had a thing called fufu and fish soup with full fish in it. My companions were literally gaging by the end. They were the worst actors. I'm grateful they didn't get called to Africa.
There's two people I wanna shout out this week. First up Sydney! I met Sydney 3 years ago in Pleasant Grove in my home ward. Her grandparents are in my ward. I saw her again on Sunday and immediately recognized her! We talked to her mom and her mom said it was an answer to her prayer that I remembered her and asked if we could come visit her every day because she was going to be out of town. Let me tell you this was the HIGHLIGHT of my week. Sydney has autism and has the purest soul I've ever met! She taught me so many things about being Christlike. God is in all the details and there are no coincidences!
Next is Jinan!! We have been teaching Jinan and she is so prepared. We have had two lessons with her and she really loves everything and says it all makes sense she says amen after everything we say. She also said, "how does nobody know about the Book of Mormon?!?" She has been through so much but has the strongest faith. She named her cleaning business TYJ (thank you Jesus). Now we have started saying that! We always say TYJ and sister Rhinehart even made us bracelets that say it. Jinan is such a light and I'm so excited to see her continue to progress.
Let me know how y'all are doing and just know I love you. If you are questioning why God would put you in certain situations, remember you are dealing with a God! He is all knowing all powerful and there is reason behind everything he does. Macy.robbins@missionary.org
